December 15, 2008

insuranceHere’s Part 1 of a short series on how to get ready to take your insurance license exam! Part 1 covers some basic tips on how to begin preparing for the exam.  In later installments we’ll be giving you some valuable tips that will give you the edge when answering multiple choice and true/false and math questions.

It’s important to give yourself plenty of time to get ready to take the Insurance Exam. Be sure to schedule plenty of study sessions over many days or a few weeks. Obviously you’re not going to be able to learn everything the night before you sit for your Insurance Exam so get started as soon as possible!

Let’s go!

  • Preparing for the Insurance Exam can create stress. If exercise isn’t part of your daily routine start now and take some time to exercise each day during the week before the exam. As little as 20 minutes of walking each day will reduce your stress level.
  • Be sure you have a clear understanding regarding all important topics and ask your instructor about any topics you are having a hard time understanding.
  • During your review process, be sure to remember any tips you received during the course.
  • Ask your teacher to review all of the areas that he or she knows will be addressed during the Insurance License Exam.
  • Take time to closely review all of your course notes, Insurance practice exams and any other study materials that are available to you.
  • Take some time to review the night before the Insurance Exam but don’t pull an “all-nighter”. Be sure to get at least 6 hours of sleep the night before you take your Insurance License Exam.
  • Eat a light meal before you sit for your Insurance Exam. Don’t eat anything too heavy because that could cause you to feel sleepy during your exam. You want to be alert and focused as possible at exam time.

Part 2 will focus on how to be ready on the day of your exam!
