Insurance License Types
Regardless of your particular state laws, the majority of Insurance agents entering the industry today will pursue either the Life, Accident and Health type of license, or the Fire and Casualty license, or both. Depending on state rules and regulations, your state may have other types of licenses or combinations of licenses as shown below.
A Life and Accident & Health licensee is an authorized representative of insurance products that permit them to transact insurance business on human lives, annuities, annuities, accidental death, disabilities, sickness, 24-hour Care coverage, Long Term Care insurance, and bodily injury.
An Accident & Health licensee is an authorized representative of insurance products that permit them to transact insurance business on disabilities, sickness, 24-hour Care coverage, Long Term Care insurance, and bodily injury. (Does not include life insurance products.)
A Fire and Casualty licensee is an authorized representative of insurance products that permit them to transact insurance business on residential, flood, earthquake, auto, motorcycle, liability and other similar insurance products. In many states, a fire and casualty licensee is also authorized to transact 24-hour Care coverage, Long Term Care insurance and disability insurance.
A Limited Lines Automobile licensee is available in many states, and represents an authorized representative of insurance products that permit them to transact insurance business on Automobile and motorcycle insurance products.
A Personal Lines licensee in some states is an authorized representative of insurance products that permit them to transact insurance business on the same products as a Fire and Casualty, excluding those commercial insurance products, 24-hour Care coverage, as well as Long Term Care insurance and disability insurance.
