Alabama Insurance License Requirements

General Requirements:
All applicants are required to complete a prelicensing course from an authorized provider before taking the insurance exam. This requirement does not apply to the industrial fire examination.

The following qualifications are necessary in order to become an insurance producer. These requirements include, but are not limited to:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• May not have committed any act that is a ground for a denial, suspension or revocation of license. See the following link for a complete list of what this includes: http://www.bama.ua.edu/~pmdpins/insgr.html
• Completing a prelicense course of study for the lines of authority for which the person is applying consisting of 40 classroom hours or equivalent of individual instruction on the general principles of insurance
• Successfully completing the examination for the lines of authority for which the individual has applied
