License Overview for an Initial Individual Producer License:
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and of good moral character. Individuals wanting to solicit, negotiate or sell Life/Accident and Health, Property/Casualty, Personal Lines, Variable Life/Variable Annuities, Credit and/or Travel Coverage must be licensed.
Prerequisites: Education and exam are required for CT Residents in the following authorities:Â Life, Accident/Health, Property/Casualty and Personal Lines.
Equivalent license in “resident” state is required for nonresidents.
Education Requirements:
Eighty (80) hours for Life/AH combination, Eighty (80) hours for Property and Casualty combination. Life, AH, Property, Casualty and Personal Lines all require forty (40) hours each if taking them as a single course.
Required Documentation for the Application Process:
Connecticut residents applying for Life, A&H, Property/Casualty or Personal Lines must submit a completed Uniform Application and fee as well as original prelicense completion certificate and state exam score report. Applicants must submit a Letter of Designation if EXEMPT (see site below for more details about exemptions). Applicants must also submit any documentation to support a “yes†response.
